Heidi and Jon were married at Century Memorial Chapel in Naperville and had their reception at Danada House in Wheaton. Their colors were black, white and fuchsia/magenta. Flowers included peonies, orchids, tulips, hydrangea and roses.

For the bouquets, Heidi is all about peonies, so I made her bouquet all white peonies with some white cymbidium orchids with fuchsia accents on their throats. They were surrounded by accents of variegated pittosporum foliage and the handle was wrapped in ivory satin with magenta ribbon overlay and pearl detailing. The bridesmaids carried magenta peony bouquets with fuchsia dendrobium orchids and pitt foliage with black satin handles. Jon’s bout was a cymbidium orchid and the rest of the Groomsmen wore dendrobium orchid bouts. The fathers wore double tulip bouts and the ushers got sweetheart roses. The mothers and other women got a mix of white and magenta flowers with foliage and ribbon. They all were fabulous!

The aisle of the church was decorated with pew cones that I made with damask-patterned wrapping papers lined with cardstock. They had stems of white hydrangea in them and hung from magenta and black ribbons. We also did a monogrammed aisle runner for Heidi and Jon which was later moved to the reception.

At the Danada House, we decorated the entry way with monogram letters that I made with silk roses and black satin ribbon. They hung from the front pillars outside the venue. I also decorated a grapevine arch that goes over the doorway at the venue. Its a permanent feature of the house, so I dressed it up with a variety of flowers and foliage.

Inside the house, I did an entry way arrangement and made a welcome sign with the H & J monogram on it. I also decorated the staircase banister with foliage and orchids. We added random vases of hydrangea and flowers around the house and put squares with a peony or orchid in them on all of the cocktail hour highboy and cabaret tables.

In the Atrium, we did trios of submerged cylinders with Mokara and Dendrobium orchids and tulips inside under floating candles. They sat on Damask runners made by The Chair Couture. One of my favorite DJ’s was also there, Don Kaminsky of XL-Entertainment and one of my favorite photographers, Kara Schultz. All 3 of these vendors actually did my wedding too! It was quite a trip having us all in one space again–we love working together and its nice to have so many friends in the wedding industry! I digress…basically I Heidi has great taste in vendors!

The head table was decorated with bling, petals, votives and vases for bouquets. The cake table also got bling and petals and I added some flowers to the cake as well.

Everything was just so elegant and I really love how it all came together! It was great working with Heidi and I really hope we nailed her vision for her wedding!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Bliese!

Lau (aka “Love”) and Alvin were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Wadsworth and had their small reception at Flatwater on the River in Chicago. Their colors were pewter, black and white with a touch of red.

For the Personal Flowers, Lau wanted a cascading Phaleanopsis orchid bouquet with callas. It was huge and stunning and she loved it. Alvin wore a Phaleanopsis orchid bout and the rest of the guys got Dendrobium orchids or mini callas. The wrist corsages were a mix of orchids and sweetheart roses and the flower girl got a red mini carnation pomander.

For the ceremony, we did a monogrammed aisle runner and 2 tall calla altarpieces with black curly willow branches. All of the items were later moved to the reception.

For the reception, Lau and Alvin sat at a sweetheart table that was decorated with a damask runner and clear and red votive holders with candles. The guests sat at tables with a damask runner and submerged dendrobium orchid cylinders with floating candles on top. They were simple and chic and really added to the stunning riverside ambiance.

Tiffany and I loved working with Lau planning her wedding flowers. Lau is my friend Stefanie’s sister-in-law so she knew she wanted to use us after being in Stef’s wedding a couple years ago. I am so glad everything worked out and we were a part of Lau’s wedding.

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Sievert!

Linda and Cherian were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in North Aurora and then celebrated their reception at Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn. Their colors were burnt orange and brown/umber. Flowers included ranunculus, roses, callas, freesia, sweetheart roses, lisianthus, snapdragons, hydrangea and assorted foliage.

Linda wore two dresses on her wedding day–including a traditional ivory “Western” wedding gown and a teal Bridal Sari that she changed into for the reception. So for her bouquet, she carried a slightly cascading bouquet of monochromatic whites and champagnes which included ivory roses, champagne roses, champagne sweethearts, white lisianthus, white mini callas, white freesia, and ivory ranunculus. The handle was wrapped in ivory with a pearl detailed handle. The bridesmaids wore orange Lehengas and carried bouquets of roses, callas, freesia and ranunculus in orange, red and yellow tones. The men wore calla bouts to match their neckties and coordinate with the bouquets.

For the ceremony, Linda wanted bows hung from every-other pew and a monogrammed aisle runner. We also did altarpieces which we later reused at the reception.

For the reception, we moved the altarpieces onto the gift and escort card tables. Linda and Cherian also rented my rectangle card holding vase. We also put the monogram from the aisle runner on the DJ table and also added the bows from the pews to different areas of the reception room. It was really beautiful!

I loved working with Linda planning her wedding flowers!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Varghese!

So, here are the great things about monogrammed aisle runners…for one thing, they are totally unique to the couple I make them for…the monogram is in their colors, their fonts, with their symbol/theme, their names, & their date…it doesn’t get more personal or unique! Another fun thing is after using the runner at the ceremony, I usually suggest cutting the monogram portion off to hang from the head table/DJ table/Sweets table, etc. so it gets more use. As if that isn’t enough, I also give a discount to my existing clients that is less than what I charge for the ones I sell on ETSY. So, if you think you want a runner–let me know!

ETSY is the site for all things handmade. It rocks! I sell items on there but I also buy items on there! ETSY is the perfect stop for a custom love bird cake topper, a vintage-looking fascinator for your hair, custom Chicago table numbers or a monogrammed aisle runner. Once you are baby bound, they have cute stuffed animals, knitted hats and a million other delightful handmade items. If you are planning a party–they have a bunch of great things for that too! From cupcake flags to custom banners–they literally have it all!

Last Christmas season, I bought some pendants from an artist that turns Scrabble pieces into jewelry! They were a huge hit with my family members. I am sure I will be buying some other gifts off of ETSY this season too. And I love that by buying goods off ETSY I am supporting other independent artists and craftsmen too!
