We’ve never done an all shades of blue wedding, so this was a first for us! But the most memorable part of the day was the rain–which did not stop the wedding party and guests from having the outdoor ceremony–umbrellas and all! It started as a wet wedding and turned into a great party as the guests dried off at the reception by dancing the night away…what a fun wedding!

Ashley and Chris were married at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elgin and had their reception at The Royal Fox Golf Club in St. Charles. Their colors were peacock blue, yellow and ivory with black. Flowers included ranunculus, hydrangea, peonies, parrot tulips, fringe tulips, double tulips, regular Dutch tulips, protea, dahlias, billy balls, brunia, button poms, spray roses and some foliage.

The personal flowers included a stunning bouquet for Ashley that consisted of mostly white flowers with some pale yellow accents. It included peonies, hydrangea, ranunculus, lisianthus, Dutch tulips, double tulips and freesia. It smelled FANTASTIC because of the freesia!!! It was textural and whimsical, which is exactly what I wanted!

The Bridesmaids carried mostly yellow bouquets with some white accents–including a mix of hydrangea, tulips, ranunculus, billy balls, dahlias, and spray roses. The mother’s wore wrist corsages made of ranunculus, spray roses and brunia accents and the grandmothers and reader women wore ranunculus-spray rose combos with peacock blue bows and exposed stems.

The gents wore ranunculus and some had brunia accents and some had billy ball accents but all of them were wrapped in black satin with exposed stems. They were the perfect compliment to the bouquets!

For the ceremony, I designed 2 altarpieces that were garden-style urns with curly willow branches and a textural, overflowing mix of flowers. I also provided a Mary Offering and 2 Parent offerings as well as hydrangea for the pews. It was beautiful!

For the reception, we did a manzanita tree for hanging the family member escort cards and then surrounded the tree with the non-family ones. It was a really cute idea and plays on the “family tree” idea.

We also reused the altarpieces in the library and on the gift table, next to our birdcage card holder with floral, ribbon and butterfly accents. We reused the pew hydrangea in square vases with peacock ribbon wraps in the cocktail area as well.

The head table was lined with petals and vases for the bouquets and sat behind one of my favorite cakes of all time–which we just added butterflies to and surrounded the cake table with petals as well.

The guest tables were the perfect mix of short and tall–the 8 talls gave height to the space without looking too over-the-top. I loved them. They are among my favorite talls to date! I also did 9 short coordinating ones in square vases with peacock ribbon. They also were awesome!

I love doing this wedding and working with Ashley to perfectly match her vision! The Royal Fox was a beautiful Golf Club venue and I hope we work there again soon!

I wish Ashley and Chris a lifetime of happiness! Congrats you two!!!

Kelly and Sean’s wedding was held at Holy Family Cathedral in Chicago on the same day as the Chicago Marathon. Their reception followed at Fulton’s on the River. Their colors were eggplant, magenta and cornflower blue and flowers included roses, lisianthus, orchids, spray roses, callas, hydrangea, and stock. Everything was bold and flashy and made for one AWESOME event!

Kelly’s bouquet was a total show-stopper–and huge to boot! It had roses, monkey tail, callas, lisianthus, hydrangea, spray roses, stock, ranunculus and cockscomb. The bridesmaids carried bouquets made of blue hydrangea, roses, spray roses, callas, lisianthus and stock.
The bouts and corsages were made of callas and spray roses and orchids.

For the ceremony, I designed 120 wedding programs for Kelly and Sean and 2 Parent Offerings and delivered the remaining non-bridal party personal flowers for readers and godparents.

For the reception, I designed escort cards that denoted guest name, table assignment, meal choice and the favor donation info all on one little card! They complimented the photo table numbers that featured the happy couple in a variety of places they have visited together.

Even though I seldom do invitations, I did Chicago-themed ones for Kelly and Sean’s wedding and rehearsal dinner. They turned out awesome and they said guests were raving about them for months. Be sure to check them out because it was a once a year type of project and you won’t see invites by me for quite a while now!!!

For the escort card table, we put out about 170 escort cards and lined the back of the table with varying height cylinders with floating candles and submerged orchids, petals and votives. There were also some cocktail tables outside got a bubble votive holder with petals inside and under it. Petals were also added to the head and cake tables along with votives. The head tables also got vases for the bouquets to be displayed in. 12 of the guest tables had a round, full mixed arrangement on them while 4 of the tables got a taller submerged flower trio of orchids and callas. 2 of the tables were added last minute so we whipped up 2 short full arrangements in square vases that the venue provided for us to use.

The cake was decorated with hydrangea, roses and lisianthus and turned out fabulous!

I cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed working with Kelly and Sean to plan their big day. It was a blast to plan, and it turned out better than I could imagine–especially the weather!

The marathon traffic and confusion due to impromptu lane closures was annoying in the morning before the events started–but by the time the wedding was underway, most roads had opened up. We actually finished up with plenty of time in spite of being held up in the morning. I am just glad it did not make us crazy late for anything. FEW!

In closing, I would like to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Moran on their marriage!

Best of luck to you both!

Cara and Peter had their wedding at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Elmhurst and had their reception at the beautiful Danada House in Wheaton, Illinois. Their colors were periwinkle and charcoal with magenta and orange accents. The flowers included hydrangea, orchids, roses, garden roses, and dahlias.

For the personal flowers, Cara wanted a bold, fluffy bouquet of peonies and other flowers. Peonies were not in season, so we substituted them with magenta peony garden roses and sunset orange-salmon garden roses and aded in some Fuchsia vanda orchids, Jaguar hot pink spotted mokara orchids and a base of blue hydrangea. The handle was wrapped in ivory satin and with Peter’s grandmother’s hanky with pretty embroidery wrapped around it. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of all blue hydrangea with a blue handle. The bouts and corsages were all made of mostly orchids and some spray roses. I also provided petals for the flower girl’s basket as well as 2 satin bags filled with petals for the moms to toss at the couple during the ceremony.

For the ceremony, I just put down the aisle runner and roped off the inner aisle. We also had a huge basket of petals for after the ceremony for the guests to toss at the couple as they departed the church. I also made 6 reserved signs for the first 3 family pews on each side of the church.

For the reception, we made a bunch of arrangements in a variety of vases in different shapes and sizes provided by the couple. Some were squares, some rectangles, some cylinders. We added in some of my pedestal glasses for some of the centerpieces as well and used a couple of my taller cylinders for the foyer arrangement.

I decorated the arch in the front of the house with hydrangea, roses and orchids to set the stage for the flowers inside the house. Then you walked in and saw the entry way arrangement, a trio of tall vases–2 submerged orchids cylinders and 1 rectangle cluster arrangement of hydrangea and roses all surrounded by charcoal river rocks, votives and orchid heads. We also had our signature rectangle card holder vase with monogram on the table as well. Across from it, we put votives and votive holders with orchid heads and a sign for the photo guest book. We put more votives with candles and orchids all over the house and hallway including on the mantels and trim. Smaller vases of submerged orchid heads and floating candles were put on highboys and cabaret tables and river rocks, votives and orchids lined the back of the escort card table.

For the guest tables, we technically did 22 different combos! Most of them were a variation of 3 styles/combos of cluster and submerged arrangements in blue, magenta/fuchsia and salmon orange tones. The sweetheart table got river rocks, orchid heads and vases for the bouquets. And let’s not forget the fabulous cake with blue hydrangea on it. One of my favorite cakes ever!

I think what made everything look more special was the periwinkle linens Cara and Peter chose…they really made the space POP and set off all of the fun cluster and submerged centerpiece combos.

I loved working with Cara and Peter throughout the planning process. They had a lot of great, unique ideas which came together perfectly on their big day. Her bouquet was one of my favorite ones ever–and I really just loved their unique color palette.

I wish Mr. and Mrs. Mooses all the best! Congratulations!

Kim and Rob were married at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and had their reception at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza overlooking the Chicago River. The stunning room with a view was filled with beautiful red, white and blue 4th of July touches from the flowers to the favors! The flowers included red, white and light blue blooms including roses, hydrangea, Stephanotis, stock, Delphinium, and orchids. These two photos of the lovely couple and bridal party come courtesy of my talented photographer friend Kara Schultz. Thanks Kara!

For the personal flowers, Kim carried a festive bouquet of light blue hydrangea, red roses, white roses, white stock, light blue hybrid delphinium, Stephanotis and a little red Bee Balm. The Stephanotis looked like little stars and the Bee Balm looked like little fireworks. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet without these additions. The bouts and corsages were made of roses and orchids to match the bouquets.

For the ceremony, I filled 2 baskets with white roses petals to be tossed at the couple. Hopefully the only shower that afternoon was a petal shower!

For the reception, I filled 2 vases that Kim provided with white and light blue hydrangea and put them on the gift table. Kim provided her own hour-glass shaped vase card holder and decorated it with fun ribbons. Kim’s maid of honor made some fabulous escort cards that look like tickets and Kim collaged her own table numbers that were shadow-boxes with tons of details! The table numbers sat next to my centerpieces which were 12 inch cylinder vases filled with either a red mokara orchid and blue stones or a white dendrobium orchid and red stones with a floating candle at top. All of them were placed on the venue’s charger plates and surrounded by petals. I also put vases for the bouquets on the head table along with more petals and votives. Petals also rimmed the cake table, gift table and escort card/photo table.

It was a beautiful wedding and I cannot wait to see the rest of the photos Kara Schultz took of Kim and Rob!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Grzymala!

Lauren and AJ were married at Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church in Naperville and had their reception at Wyndham Hotel in Lisle, Illinois. Their colors were royal blue, dark purple and lime green and flowers included hydrangea, delphinium, Bells of Ireland, Button poms, lisianthus, cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids, vanda orchids, hypericum berries an stock.

For the personal flowers, Lauren carried a bouquet of vanda orchids, blue Bombay dendrobium orchids, purple stock, green cymbidium orchids, blue hydrangea, and lisianthus. The bridesmaids bouquets had blue hydrangea, button poms, purple stock, green hypericum berries, green mini cymbidium orchids and blue Bom dendros. The bouts and corsages were all made of orchids in purple, blue and green shades. The flower girl wand was awesome. I really am glad we decided to add the blue-dyed Bombay dendrobium orchids to the mix–that was a game time decision for us!

For the ceremony, we hung blue hydrangea from lime green ribbon from the chairs going down in the aisle. I also painted a monogrammed aisle runner for the aisle.

For the reception, we did 2 showy tall arrangements for the gift and escort card table that combined orchids, Bells of Ireland, Hydrangea, stock and curly willow branches. We did even taller versions of them with delphinium added to the mix for half of the centerpieces and the other half were submerged blue hydrangea with floating candles on top. The cake was decorated with orchids and orchid heads were also scattered on the head table, escort card table, cake table and gift table. I also did cute signs on 10 of my vases for the cookie buffet which looked really cute! It was really hard not to eat any of the cookies while setting up!

I enjoyed working with Lauren and she was such a gorgeous bride! I am so glad to have been a part of her wedding and wish her an AJ a lifetime of happiness!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Reineking!

Danielle and Michael were married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg and then celebrated their reception at The Seville in Streamwood afterward. Their colors were black, white and blue and flowers included hydrangea, roses, callas and scabiosa.

For the personal flowers, Danielle carried a bouquet of mini callas, Stephanotis with blue pearls and crystals inside, roses, sweetheart roses, blue hydrangea and pink sweet pea accents. The Bridesmaids carried bouquets of white hydrangea, white roses, blue delphinium and Scabiosa with black handles. Michael wore an calla bout and the rest of the guys wore white roses.

For the ceremony, I created two altarpieces with blue hydrangea and scabiosa, white hydrangea, roses, callas and black curly willow branches. I also created 3 single white rose bouquets to serve as memorials for relatives who have passed away.

For the reception, I created 20 blue hydrangea centerpieces with bear grass accents in black square vases. They sat on the guest tables and head table. The ones on the guest tables were put on top of mirrors that sat on these taller, modern-looking bases that the venue provided. The head table had vases for the bouquets, petals, votives, the altarpieces, 4 centerpieces and candlesticks provided by the venue.

Everything was so beautiful–especially the bride! I really loved working with Danielle and Michael and hope they had the best day of their lives. Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Speciale!

Liz and Jack were married at Century Chapel at Naper Settlement and had their reception at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. Their colors were blue and ivory and flowers included callas, orchids, tulips, thistle, iris, hydrangea and monkey tail.

For the personal flowers, Liz carried a posh, Euro-style all-white Phaleanopsis orchid bouquet. It had 7 stems of orchids hand-tied into a cascading shape. It was so stunning! The bridesmaids and Mother of Honor carried bouquets of calla lilies with monkey tail accents. The bouts and corsages consisted of callas and orchids and some also had monkey tail accents.

For the ceremony, I designed a custom monogrammed aisle runner for the aisle. We attached blue hydrangea to every-other pew and put 2 altarpieces at the altar. We also did 2 parent offerings.

For the reception, I made Chicago table numbers, a seating chart, Thank You signs, and Bride and Groom signs to accompany all of the beautiful flowers we did. We reused the altarpieces on 2 tables in the cocktail area and recycled the hydrangea from the pews in the same area on the highboys and accent tables. The monogram from the aisle runner was reused on the DJ table so it was front-and-center on the dance floor. To hold the gift cards, I did my signature floral-rimmed gift card holding vase in blue and white flowers including thistle, iris, stock, hydrangea, delphinium and tulips. For the head table, we accented the sweetheart table with vases for the bouquets, a toss bouquet and petals.

The centerpieces consisted of two styles: half of them were large bubble bowls with sculptural callas and variegated lily grass and the other half were cylinder trios with submerged thistle, orchids and tulips and floating candles on top. Submerging the thistle was the bride’s idea and I totally loved it! I will totally be using thistle again in the future! It has a great texture!

I really enjoyed working with Liz and her mom planning her wedding. I wish her and Jack a wonderful life together as husband and wife!

Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Rowe!
