Since San Diego is still fresh in my mind I have to talk a little bit about our trip…so bear with me the next week or so while I get all of the reviews, recommendations and stories about San Diego out of my system!!!
Hotel Del Coronado is a must-visit even if you can’t afford to stay there. In fact, we did not stay there either, but we did splurge a bit to have their fabulous Christmas Day buffet/brunch, which was heaven on a plate (okay, heaven on like 10 plates, let’s face it, we went up way more than one time!)
The Hotel is a National Historic Landmark and has been an American Treasure for more than 120 years. It has been host to movie stars, presidents and maybe even some ghosts…if you believe in that sorta thing.
All I believe is that their food is A-MAZ-ING! The Christmas Day buffet selection was phenomenal–King Crab legs (already cracked open and ready to go), salmon, clams, mussels, carving stations of turkey, ham and prime rib, pastas and salads galore, stuffing, vegetables and potatoes prepared every way you like them, all forms of bread known to man, and let’s not forget THE DESSERT ROOM. Yes, ROOM. There was an entire room filled with dessert options including a chocolate fondue station, pies, bread puddings, ice cream delights, cheesecakes, truffles, whipped cream, mousse, and so much more! I think we both gained like 10 lbs that day alone–but can you blame us?!
