Ashley and Adam’s wedding at the Brookfield Zoo was awesome! And BONUS, a bunch of my favorite vendors were also a part of it–Blend Beauty Studio, Miller+Miller Photography and David Rothstein Music all were there to make the day perfect!
The wedding colors were purple, magenta, white/ivory and green and flowers included a fun mix of peonies, ranunculus, spray roses, lotus pods, scabiosa pods, trachellium, lisianthus, sweet pea, hydrangea, brunia, dusty miller, seeded eucalyptus, and stock. Everything had a lot of texture and looked amazing!
Ashley’s bouquet was easily one of my favorites this season. She trusted me to make something awesome and textural and the end result was one totally fabulous bouquet! The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of her bouquet with less whites in them and the bouts and corsages were made with spray roses, ranunculus and fun foliage.
My favorite thing from Ashley and Adam’s wedding was our signature pave floral arch–which was the perfect frame for their outdoor nuptials in front of the formal pond at the Zoo. It was covered in lush floral and supported by 2 distressed architectural posts and the Zoo staff complimented it saying in all their years of seeing arches–it was the best one they’ve seen! We love comments like that! Keep ’em coming!
A fun thing about having a Zoo wedding is you get to have your cocktail hour in an animal habitat and Ashley and Adam chose Great Bear Wilderness. We put some simple purple votive candle holders out surrounded by magenta rose petals since there were only 4 tables in that area and we wanted to keep the focus on the bears.
The reception centerpieces were a combination of tall and short ones–both of which incorporated birch bark. The tall ones were a mixed arrangement that sat atop birch posts in a cylinder vase and had branches shooting out of the top. The short centerpieces were a mixed arrangement in a birch-bark vase. They worked perfectly together and the green foliage and pods in the arrangements complimented the green in the venue’s chairs.
We also made the paper items–table numbers and escort cards for this wedding. They were zoo-themed and complimented the Zoo’s plates which feature 20 animal silhouettes. The couple picked 16 animals and we named the tables after them, and included them on the matching escort cards. They only added to the theme and location!
Final details included a beautifully decorated cake with flowers and pods on it and our birdcage card holder to collect their cards. Everything came together so well and the wedding was a huge success!
I loved working with Ashley and Adam to plan their big day and am so glad everything was great! Congrats to you both!
