Nature Meets Vintage at Independence Grove

Jennifer and Mike had their gorgeous wedding outside in the Native Plants Garden at Independence Grove in Libertyville, Illinois with a reception in their indoor event space to follow. Their colors were chocolate brown, gray, cream and peach with an overall theme of vintage meets nature. I must say, this turned out to be one of my favorite weddings I have ever done!

Jenn and Mike’s DIY projects were impeccable. Mike made little wood pieces for displaying the table numbers, mason jars, sweets, escort card arrangements AND even the cake. The cake stand was unbelievable! Jenn also was a DIY genius…making burlap table runners, doily-around-mason jar luminary table numbers, paper and fabric flowers, the birdies in nest cake topper, hair accessories, etc. etc. etc…all I can say is WOW.

For the personal flowers, Jenn wanted to carry a textural, vintage-inspired all ivory/white bouquet with gardenias, rice flower, ranunculus, lisianthus, garden roses, freesia and dainty feather accents. It is one of my favorite all-white bouquets ever! The bridesmaids carried lovely bouquets of peach garden roses, spray roses and roses, ivory ranunculus, snow berry and dusty miller accents with handles wrapped in burlap and twine with button details. The bouts and corsages were totally one-of-a-kind with exposed stems and a mix of pearl strands, silver sage, scabiosa pods, peach hypericum berries, ranunculus, spray roses, snow berries, ribbon, burlap, and twine. The flower girl basket was another total hit–filled with peach petals and decorated with raffia and burlap ribbon, moss, berries and twigs…it fit perfectly with the rest of the person flowers!

For the ceremony, Jenn and Mike married outdoors in between 2 stone fences and under my natural branch arch–which was decorated with clusters of peach and white flowers and silver foliage. Candles in mason jars lined the fences near them and petals lined the aisles. Hydrangea hung from every other pew in a burlap cone with lace trim that I sewed at Jenn’s request. It was the perfect setting and the weather was perfect as well.

For the reception–it was all about details and found objects. Jenn provided a mix of things that we put out including a collection of white milk glass for the centerpieces which I filled with gorgeous floral arrangements. Each guest table also got a quart-size mason jar table number on a wood piece and 3 other pint size mason jars with candles. The head tables also had jars for the bouquets on them as well.

The escort card table got favor boxes with escort card tags on them. Jenn made paper flowers for all of the boxes for women. We arranged them within frames and on top of various stands that Jenn provided. Little floral arrangements decorated in between boxes along the back of the table.

The guest book table had both LP records to sign and my birdcage duo for leaving cards and wishes and advice for the newlyweds. It was decorated with moss and burlap and frames and I also made some signs as well.

The sweets table got signs that I made plus wood pieces that Mike made and other collected things from Jenn.

The cake table got the awesome cake stand tree stump Mike made which I surrounded by moss and then I decorated the cake with their birdie topper and misc. flowers. It was awesome!

All in all, one of my best weddings ever! Loved it!!!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Barrer!

Total coincidence too–I have 3 pieces of art in the (PACE) Postcard Art Competition & Exhibition and they were on display at Independence Grove! So both my floral art and actual art were at Jenn and Mike’s wedding!!!
