Lesley and I met years ago while I was volunteering at the Morton Arboretum Children’s Garden where she works. We became fast friends and she told me she was getting married and I told her I did wedding flowers (at that time just as my side gig). Her wedding was going to be at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake, Illinois (which is one town over from where I grew up) and she asked me to be her florist. Of course I was happy to do her wedding flowers! She and Jay are totally fun, cool people and just wanted fun, bright, and beautiful flowers and they did not focus too much on colors. They trusted me and I made them some awesome stuff!

I didn’t think the first year was particularly hard though once you throw kids and reality into the mix…:) You just have to be willing to roll with the changes, and grow with your best friend.
