Intro to Floral Design is a 4-week class that can also be taken as a full series or as individual classes if you only wish to take 1-2 classes. New Tutorial: Intro To Floral Design

I am happy to announce another series of classes at Kio Kreations Studio. Intro to Floral Design is a 4-week class that can also be taken as a full series or in pieces (meaning if you do not wish to take all 4 classes you can sign up for just 1 or 2 of them). The class info and fees are listed below. *Note* there is a discount given to students who sign up for the full 4-week series and register/pay fees by February 10, 2012.

INTRO TO FLORAL DESIGN

Week 1
Bouquet, Bout & Wrist Corsage
Thursday, February, 16th, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm
Please note that this class meets on a Thursday, but the rest of the classes meet on Wednesdays.

Fee: $85/this class only; 4-Class package: $295
Registration & fee due by February 10, 2012 (this is the due date for this class and the 4-class package discount)
Class size limit: 8 students
Description: Learn how to make a hand-tied bouquet, a boutonniere and a wrist corsage. Fresh flowers and use of supplies included. Pearl wrist bracelet, ribbons, corsage pins also included. Please bring clippers, wire cutters and scissors to class if you have them.

Week 2
Sculptural & Submerged Centerpieces
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm
at Kio Kreations Studio in Naperville (click here for address)
Fee: $75/this class only; 4-Class package: $295 (payment due 2-10-12)
Registration & fee due by February 14th, 2012 (this is the due date if registering for this class only)
Class size limit: 8 students
Description: Learn how to make a trio of submerged cylinder centerpieces and a sculptural bowl centerpiece. Fresh flowers and use of supplies included. 6″ bubble bowl vase, 3 cylinder vases (varying heights), pins, decorative wire, decorative stones included as well. Please bring clippers, wire cutters and scissors to class if you have them.

Week 3
Pomander, Orb Centerpiece, & Faux Food Made with Flowers
Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm

Fee: $75/this class only; 4-Class package: $295 (payment due 2-10-12)
Registration & fee due by February 22nd, 2012 (this is the due date if registering for this class only)
Class size limit: 8 students
Description: Learn how to make a floral pomander, an orb arrangement, and a fun arrangement that looks like a milkshake or sundae. Fresh flowers and use of supplies included. Ribbons, oasis sphere, oasis dome, oasis powder, and container for faux food arrangement provided. Please bring clippers, wire cutters and scissors to class if you have them.

Week 4
Cluster & Color Block Centerpieces
Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm
at Kio Kreations Studio in Naperville (click here for address)
Fee: $80/this class only; 4-Class package: $295 (payment due 2-10-12)
Registration & fee due by February 29th, 2012 (this is the due date if registering for this class only)
Class size limit: 8 students
Description: Learn how to make cluster and color block style arrangements. Fresh flowers and use of supplies included. We will be reusing the vases from Week 2 for these arrangements–so please bring them to class. If signing up for this class only, vases will be provided. Vintage Centerpiece Tutorial: Complete!

We just had our vintage centerpiece tutorial at the studio tonight and I am so proud of the results! My students did a fabulous job–just take a look at the gallery…

Tonight’s arrangements included a variety of lovely flowers and foliage: parrot tulips, traditional tulips, Bupleurum, Queen Anne’s Lace, Veronica, sweet pea, moon lagoon eucalyptus, silver sage, spray roses, wax flower and dusty miller.

Everyone worked fast so we even had time to make ribbon flowers–which all of the ladies enjoyed. Some of them included their ribbon flowers in their centerpieces too.

I LOVED teaching this class and look forward to our next set of classes– FLORAL DESIGN 101, which will begin in February (date yet TBD).

Fabulous Fabric Flowers + 2 DIY’s

I just did an article for Wedloft about how much I love fabric flowers…I love them almost as much as fresh flowers! I like to make flowers out of ribbon and lace and have made stems for bouquets, headbands, fascinators, and necklaces. My friends Ariela and Brenda of RBK Creations make oodles of felt flowers, satin stems and organza flowers all with button or brooch centers. I also found a bunch of lovelies on ETSY, all of which I posted in the article so check it out!

Vintage Centerpiece Tutorial on Jan 14th – Sign up TODAY!

Our Vintage Centerpiece Tutorial is coming up on January 14th from 4-7 at Kio Kreations Studio in Naperville. This class will cover how to design centerpieces that have a vintage, garden-feel, that look “effortlessly” designed. In the process, you will learn that a lot of effort actually goes into this style! We will use a variety of flowers and foliages for the class and you bring your own vintage container (small-medium in size, send us images of them if you don’t know if they will work–or bring a few choices to the class)…

Registration for this class is required and payment of $60 for class (check or Paypal) must be received by December 20th. Please contact us ASAP to sign up!
