Artist in Bloom: Color Pencil Still Life by Aili
One of the most rewarding things for me is inspiring and teaching a young artist. Aili is my current student taking private lessons and in today's session we worked with colored pencils and drew a fresh floral arrangement still life. Aili is really starting to understand how to rough in a sketch (we use white colored pencil so the outline/roughed in shapes can easily be blended away) and she also started adding highlights and shadows to the piece as well. Our first still life turned out great, and we had time to start a second, but not enough time to complete it, so I sent her home with some photos of the still life so she can finish it as "homework". Next week I think we may do some line art with gel pens and markers--with an emphasis on pattern and creating visual texture.
Here is a post about our first 2 sessions...
