Here is a list of frequently asked questions. Contact us if you have any additional questions not covered below.
Do you have a minimum for wedding flower orders?
Yes, our minimum for Saturday events is $2000, and for Friday and Sunday events is $1800 for full weddings in peak-season (April-October). In off-season (November-March) our Saturday minimum is $1800 and our Friday/Sunday minimum is $1600. We also will do orders for just personal flowers (meaning just bouquets, bouts, corsage and no centerpieces or altarpieces) if they meet our minimum of $1000. We typically do not do just a single piece for a wedding (like a bridal bouquet) as that will likely not meet our minimum.
Do you do flowers for other events besides just weddings?
Yes, we also do corporate event flowers, as well as flowers for bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, anniversary parties and rehearsal dinners. Since we are not a retail store, we do not do "dailies" which would include holiday centerpieces, prom flowers and dozen rose bouquets.
How long has Kio Kreations been in business?
We've been in business since 2004 (as a sole proprietorship) and then became an LLC in 2008.
Are you a "traditional" Floral Shop?
No. We are NOT a traditional retail florist. We only do floral design for weddings, large scale parties and corporate events. We do have a studio space in Naperville, but we do not sell everyday arrangements, holiday arrangements nor do we have a fully-stocked retail assortment. We do, however, have a floral cooler, vase rentals, chuppah and other items like a traditional shop does, just not the walk-in traffic. We also sell Graphic Design items in our studio and on our ETSY and ZAZZLE sites.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept personal or cashiers checks, cash, Paypal and credit card payments.
Are you Insured?
Yes, we are fully insured and can produce proof of insurance if requested by a venue.
Do you have employees or is it just you?
While I (Kristen Janes) own the Kio Kreations business and do the main floral design and graphic design work, I do have a talented group of freelancers who work for me before, during and after the events. They come from diverse creative backgrounds including floral design, graphic design and wedding planning. Typically at any given time we have 8-10 freelancers working for us. See their bios on our ABOUT page.
How many people usually work on an event?
Depending on the size and complexity of an event, anywhere from one to seven people can be involved in its creation, set up and tear down. The average wedding has 2-4 floral designers working on the flowers and then 2-3 people setting it up on the wedding day.
What areas do you service (for floral design)?
We will do events as far north as Gurnee/Waukegan, as far south as Mokena, as far west as Geneva and of course we'll go anywhere in Chicago (besides driving into the actual Lake!)
Do you make sample arrangements?
Yes, we can make samples if requested, but we do them for charge.
Do you design artificial/silk arrangements or bouquets?
We can do silk bouquets for destination weddings, but prefer to work in fresh flowers--and fresh flowers usually cost the same or less than silks!
