A Preppy, Chic & Casual Golf-themed Wedding
Published on May 31st, 2010
Amy and Scott had their wedding ceremony and reception at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. Their colors were Kelly Green and Navy with accents of light blue, lime green and white. Their flowers included orchids, hydrangea, callas, roses, delphinium, Bells of Ireland, hypericum berries, stock, spider mums, and lisianthus. We added golf accents all over the place as not only was the wedding at a Golf Course venue, but also Scott likes to golf. The Personal Flowers included a huge, gorgeous bouquet for Amy that included blue hydrangea, spider mums, Bells of Ireland, roses, orchids, delphinium, hypericum berries, green Dianthus, lisianthus, and stock. When brides trust me to make them something fabulous and unique--I do, and they usually get a huge, awesome bouquet. The bridesmaids also carried awesome bouquets of white and blue hydrangea, blue delphinium, white mini callas, roses and orchids. Scott wore an orchid bout and the rest of the guys got callas. The moms got cute little mixed wrist corsages and the other women got mixed pin on corsages. Amy and Scott also got a "THANK YOU" Parasol for using in their photos. They took photos holding it that will become the thank you cards they give out to their guests after the wedding. The weather was perfect for their outside ceremony. It was just a little bit windy so instead of doing petals in a pattern down the aisle, we just lined the aisle with them. I also designed some awesome programs and hung white sheers from the trellis. We also hung light blue hydrangea from the pews with navy ribbons. We later reused the hydrangea at the reception. For the Reception, I designed Golf Ball Escort Cards that sat on moss mats that looked like part of the golf course! The faux putting green was accented with golf tees and flowers and there was a trio of cylinders in the center, one of which had a horsetail flag in it. It was really a unique and perfectly befitting of the venue. On the highboy tables in the cocktail area, we put more tees and petals. The bride also provided large cylinders for the foyer and gift table which were filled with submerged blue hydrangea and floating candles. The gift card holder was our new birdcage decorated with floral accents at the top. The centerpieces were simple and preppy rectangle vases filled with a mixture of blue and white hydrangea, blue delphinium and white stock or green and white hydrangea, white stock and green hypericum berries. The vases were tied with navy or kelly green ribbon bands and held 2 tees. All of the arrangements had white round marbles in the bottom that looked like sunken golf balls too. We also designed the table numbers, which were Firsts and Favorites for the couple. For instance, Table 3 was Amy and Scott's dog and a little explanation about her. These table numbers were a lot of fun for guests and let everyone learn more about the couple. I loved working with Amy and it is great getting a bride that totally trusts that you will do an awesome job with her flowers and decor items. Amy and Scott had a beautiful wedding and I was glad to be a part of it!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Kessling!
