Jodi and Sal were married at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods and celebrated their reception at Concorde Banquets in Kildeer afterward. Their colors were white, ivory, champagne and gold with brown and some green accents. Flowers included hydrangea, tulips, callas, orchids, roses, stock, snapdragons, and variegated foliage.
Jodi carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, ivory and champagne roses, sweetheart roses and spray roses with tulips, bling and foliage scattered throughout and pearls and crystals on the handle. The bridesmaids wore taupe and carried bouquets of white hydrangea, Italian Pitt foliage, champagne roses and spray roses. The bouts and corsages all consisted of roses, sweetheart roses and spray roses in monochromatic shades of white and champagne.
For the ceremony, I designed a monogram which was painted on the aisle runner for Jodi and Sal. The monogram was also used on the paper products at the reception as well. I also designed 2 large altarpieces which we recycled at the reception on the escort card and gift tables and did parent offerings and some simple petals and foliage around the Unity Candle.
For the reception, I designed the menus, escort cards and table numbers to go with the monochromatic white, ivory, champagne with brown color scheme. We also had candy buffet signs on each table to let guests know they could fill up their favor box at the candy table. Jodi told me the candy buffet was a huge hit but everyone went to it right away rather than waiting until after dinner…didn’t they ever hear “no candy before dinner” from their mom’s?!
Another cute aspect of the candy table was that Jodi had a caricature artist make a portrait of them that was displayed in the corner of the table and it was even candy-themed. I really appreciated the personal touches she did throughout the wedding reception, and I am sure her guests did too.
The stickers on the candy boxes I designed for Jodi and Sal and posted on Zazzle. Zazzle allowed them to order the design directly and the quality of their stickers is really good–so I use them for all of my sticker needs!
In addition to all of the paper products, we did a TON of beautiful flowers at the reception. The highboy tables got stemless wineglasses filled with orchids and bear grass and flanked by votive candles. Votives candles also decorated all of the guest tables, as well as the escort card, cake, sweetheart, guest book tables. We designed 3 styles of centerpiece. The first was a short, full mixed arrangement of roses, hydrangea and foliage in a bubble bowl. The second was a trio of submerged white flowers in cylinders with floating candles. And the final style was showy full rose, stock, hydrangea, tulip and foliage arrangements sitting on pilsner vases with submerged orchids inside. These 3 styles look perfect spread throughout the room and really brought some height and interest to the space. The chocolate brown linens provided by The Chair Couture, really made for beautiful contrast between flowers, linens and gold chiviari chairs.
The cake was another total show-stopper that contrasted beautifully with the linens. I added champagne petals, white dendrobium orchids and variegated ivy cascading down the sides of the plain cake with taupe ribbon bands. It was so lush! I loved it!
I really enjoyed working with Jodi to plan her wedding. Jodi found me in an odd way, her sister actually does her banking at my mom’s bank–and I guess my mom sings my praises to strangers that mention being in weddings–so Jodi’s sister mentioned me to her and then we met, she booked me and the rest is history!
I wish a lifetime of happiness to the new Mr. and Mrs. Mistretta!
