Clara and Aren were married on the 7th Floor balcony at the W Lakeshore and had their reception on the 33rd floor in the Altitude room later that evening. Their colors were Black, white and lime green and the overall feel was modern and chic to go with the venue. The views from both levels of the venue were breath-taking–the sky was clear and you could see Navy Pier and Lake Michigan perfectly!
Clara’s bouquet was a gorgeous textural mix of callas, cymbidium orchids, cockscomb, Star of Bethlehem, lisianthus, pearls and hydrangea. The Maid of Honor’s bouquet was an all-green mix of spider mums, orchids, Star of Bethlehem, and hydrangea. Aren wore a calla bout and the rest of the gents wore mini cymbidium orchids. The flower girls carried pomanders that were made of mini carnations and button poms. The wrist corsages were made of a combo of white and green blooms to match with everything else.
For the outdoor rooftop ceremony, we did hydrangea hung from the chairs down the aisle and 2 altarpieces on sleek museum pedestals to frame in the couple as they exchanges their vows. The altarpieces were assymetrical with manzanita branches, hydrangea, tall callas, green anthurium, Bells of Ireland, green and white spider mums and stock. We did intend to do petals down the aisle but it was pretty windy up there, so we added them into the reception room instead. We also did a memorial flower for the Father of the Bride, who was there in spirit.
The reception was up on the 33rd floor in a round room called Altitude. It was more like a fun lounge vibe than a traditional wedding, which is what they wanted. Since there was minimal formal seating, we did a variety of arrangements to go on them. For the 3 main tables, I designed all-green mixed arrangements with anthurium, Bells of Ireland, hydrangea, spider mums, orchids and ti leaf. I also did bubble bowls with lily grass and 2 anthurium inside and small square vases with bear grass and single green cymbidium orchids inside. The hydrangea from the ceremony were also reused in square vases at the reception along the lounge furniture that lined the windows. The altarpieces were moved upstairs and displayed next to the card holder and flowers also decorated the cupcake display. Petals lined the window ledges and the sweetheart table as well. It was a totally chic city wedding!
I loved working with Clara and Aren to plan their wedding decor and know they had a great time! I hope to see much more of this wonderful couple since I learned at the first meeting we had that they are actually my neighbors! Small world!
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Rieck!
