A Birdie Baby Shower for Monica

I just had a the pleasure of doing the flowers for Monica Simpson, my assistant floral designer and dear friend.  Monica had a punch of creative friends lending their crafts and ideas to the planning of her birdie-themed baby shower that was held at a friend's house in downtown Naperville today. It was a fabulous home, and we decorated it with some fabulous flowers! Since Monica is having a baby girl, we did pink and green for her colors...the birdies idea came from the bedding she chose for her nursery. Monica loves Gerbera daisies, so I was sure to include those in the eclectic mix of flowers I used for the centerpiece and accent pieces. Flowers including germinis, gerbera daisies, wax flower, viburbum, bouvardia, lypcodium, pittosporum, flower branches, stock, feathers, button poms, curly willow branches, lily grass, heather, and tulips. It was an awesome mix!! I made a bunch of little things for the shower. I made a nest with a birdie and moss for the gift table along with a cute sign that said "baby gifts", I made 6 nest floral accent pieces, I decorated a birdcage to hold the favors and one for wishes and advice, I made a tiny germini arrangement in an egg-shaped container, I made a tall arrangement in a twig-container and a medium arrangement in a faux stone urn, and a short round mixed arrangement. I also made a small wrist corsage for Monica on a pearl bracelet that was just darling. It was a lot of little details that looked perfect in the space and all of the ladies loved them.

This is the fun present Tara and I made for Monica:

It was a manzanita branch that Tara wrapped in green and pink yarn and then I sewed fabric birdies with ribbons for it and we put flowers on it too. It is for the baby Annabelle's room. It was awesome and Monica loves it!
