My friends Cynthia Sally and Kara Schultz just organized a Bridal Photo Shoot featuring hair and make up by Cynthia Sally Makeup & Hair Artistry, dresses by The Frock Shop, jewelry and hair pieces by Megan Lim Jewelry and bouquets by yours truly. Cynthia and company decided to feature six different types of bride: trendy, simple chic, Grecian, vintage, modern and edgy rocker chick. All of the hair, makeup, dresses, accessories and bouquets were designed/chosen with these themes in mind. We also recruited 6 beautiful women to be the model brides…some of them are my Facebook friends and one was a past bride of mine and another is a future bride of mine!
When Cynthia and Kara asked me to be a part of this shoot, I was honored and quickly accepted. I decided that 6 bouquets was a big undertaking especially since we already had 3 weddings on the weekend of the shoot, so I asked my Associate Floral Designer, Tiffany Burdick, to design a couple of them. She got to design Trendy and Modern. I designed Grecian, Simple Chic, Rocker and most of Vintage. Tiffany actually finished the Vintage bouquet by making a chocolate ti leaf collar and decorating the handle with vintage-inspired accents. The 6 designs turned out fabulous and we could not have been happier with them. It was fun to show them to people and see which ones were their favorites! I loved all of them, but am a bit partial to Simple Chic, Grecian and Rocker Chick…but if I had to choose only one, I think Simple Chic would be my favorite. But I would be happy carrying any of them down the aisle of course…
The bouquets were very different from each other, so here is a break down of what each one included and why they went with their themes so well:
Grecian-Ethereal, natural, airy, textural shape with ocean blues, moss greens, ivory, salmon and peach tones. Flowers included green hanging Amaranthus, Tweedia, Cornflower, champagne roses, salmon spray roses, blue thistle, Queen Anne’s Lace, Lamb’s Ear, Brunia, and dusty miller. Handle wrapped in champagne satin with colored pearl clusters.
Rocker Chick-Wild, textural, sexy, avant garde shape with black, magenta, pink, purple, and blue tones. Flowers included blue-dyed Bom dendrobium orchids, purple dendrobium orchids, nerine lilies, magenta spray roses, blue delphinium, and purple lisianthus. Accents of black feathers and black balls added to bouquet along with black lace flower. Handle wrapped in jacquard black and silver fabric with black satin band and bling buckle.
Trendy-Bright, domed, fun, funky, textural shape with yellow and orange tones. Flowers included billy balls, Calendula, Yellow Pin-cushion Protea, and Circus bi-color orange and yellow roses. Handle wrapped in yellow satin and then accented with ribbon knot ties.
Simple Chic-Simple, hand-tied, soft, clean shape in coral pink and teal. Flowers consisted of just coral pink peonies. Handle wrapped in teal satin with ribbon loop collar detail.
Vintage-Textural, hand-tied, antique, soft, collected look in purple, champagne, brown, salmon, ivory, and silver. Flowers included German statice, spray roses, champagne roses, Queen Anne’s Lace, hydrangea, dusty miller, and chocolate ti leaf. Handle wrapped in chocolate brown satin with green vintage lace overlay, button and pearl details.
Modern–Biedermeier-style, structured, round, domed shape in monochromatic shades of purple. Flowers included Violet “Blue” Vanda orchids, Ocean Song lavender roses, lavender mums, and dark purple lisianthus. Handle wrapped in eggplant satin with simple pearl details.
Kara will be posting images from the shoot at a later date, but my wonderful Associate Events Coordinator and photography student, Tara Etrheim, shot these glamour shots of the bouquets before they were whisked away to the photo shoot at Kara’s studio.
