Watercolor Pencils with Aili

Watercolor Pencils with Aili

February 28, 2011

Today was our final of 6 art lessons (session 1) with Aili. I decided to teach her how to use WATERCOLOR PENCILS since she is so good with regular colored pencils. Watercolor pencils allow you to draw like you would with a normal pencil, and then go back in with water to blend areas. You can also re-work areas again with the pencils after the water has dried to bring back rich details. You can even use the pencils wet by dipping them in water to get a thick, saturated line. They are very fun to use, and a nice way to ease yourself into painting. Another fun thing about today’s project is they are drawn on watercolor postcards that can be mailed.

Here is Aili’s piece (she will remove the blue tape after it dries…)

Here is one of the pieces I did…

And here is another…

I think I am going to send these to my sister and mom who just moved to Colorado!!!

I also got some more happy news today–that Aili wants to sign up for another 6 lessons! Yay! We will definitely try “real” watercolors in the next couple lessons…
