Totally Unique to You: “Us at Age…” Table Numbers
April 30, 2010
This is the third time I have had the pleasure of making these “Us at Age…” table numbers, which are one of my signature custom items. These are for Anne and Neil’s wedding that is this weekend–and I cannot wait to see them at the venue! What I really love about these is how fun they are to look at. If guests were to look at all of them, it really tells a story of who the couple is and where they came from. I mean, just from making them myself I’ve seen they both were into sports, (Anne was a cheerleader and in softball and Neil was in Baseball), and I can see how their haircuts change (or don’t) throughout the years. It is a really cool progression of “growing up” and the best part is, no one else on earth will ever have these same table numbers!
In order to create these table numbers, the couple must scan and send (on a CD/DVD or via ftp site) 300 dpi images of them and label the appropriate age. I then take the image, crop to the same overall size and change to Grayscale/B&W. Once that step is complete, I format them to both be on the same 4×6 page and print them on photo paper. Those get cut out on the paper chopper and I usually like to leave a white border (its just an aesthetics thing). Meanwhile, I create a file of circles saying “Us at Age 1″, “Us at Age 2:, etc. in their wedding colors. I also cut out card-stock backers in their colors. Once all of those steps are complete, I spray-mount all of the images to the backer card and attach the circle number. The final step is to attach one of my favorite inventions of all time, these little self-stick easel-backs (see image to the left). They fold flat for easy storage and can be popped up and locked in place on site for display. They come in all different sizes and are perfect for any wedding signage! No need to waste money on photo frames, these are a quick fix that do the job and go unnoticed.
