A Regal Reception at the Rialto

A Regal Reception at the Rialto

August 31, 2009

Morgan and Jose were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Joliet and were given the star treatment at their Rialto Theatre reception. Everything we did for the wedding was just stunning, from the flowers to the fruit and everything in between. Their colors were green and plum and flowers and foliage included lotus pods, artichokes, poppy pods, succulents, roses, orchids, hydrangea, hypericum berries, lily grass, amaranthus, pittosporum, ruscus and even pears! It was totally sophisticated and unique.

For the Personal Flowers, I created a bouquet for Morgan using purple hydrangea, eggplant callas, magenta callas, green hypericum berries and a few green mini cymbidium orchids. The handle was wrapped in ivory satin with organza overlay and pearl accents. It was stunning! The bridesmaids carried mostly green bouquets with green hydrangea, roses, mini cymbidium orchids, and berries. The handles were wrapped in deep purple to match their dresses. Jose wore a very unique bout made of succulents and foliage. The guys wore mini cymbidium orchids and the rest of the corsages contained white dendrobium orchids. The flower girls carried a green hydrangea pomander with a purple handle.

For the ceremony, I did two decadent altarpiece arrangements that contained all sorts of flowers and textures. The pilsner base of the arrangements had a submerged stem of orchids in it and on top sat a mixed arrangement of hydrangea, artichokes, roses, orchids, amaranthus, poppy pods, lotus pods and foliage. We later reused them at the reception on the escort card and gift tables.

For the reception, we did 3 styles of centerpieces: style one was a 12″ cylinder with submerged pears and orchid heads with floating candle on top, style two were short, full, round mixed arrangements, and style three were tall pilsner with submerged orchid inside and a full mixed hydrangea and hypericum berry arrangement on top. We surrounded all of them with votives and they looked beautiful and made the gorgeous event space even more elegant. The bar decor included shorter cylinder vases with submerged pears and orchids and they looked awesome. The cake was just stunning, having a stair-stepped orchid spray going down one of the sides. It was clean and sophisticated, fitting perfectly with everything else.

I really enjoyed working with Morgan planning her wedding flowers and I love the fact that she was open and excited about using so many interesting materials! These are some of the most unique arrangements I have ever made and they looked great!

I wish Morgan and Jose all of the best in life and love and hope that they are forever happy together! Congratulations!
