A Fairytale Wedding with a Victorian Flair

A Fairytale Wedding with a Victorian Flair

July 27, 2009

Danielle and Ryan were married at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Lemont and celebrated their reception at the Patrick C. Haley Mansion in Joliet. Their colors were Victorian Lilac and white with other shades of purple. Flowers incorporated into the wedding included hydrangea, roses, stock, lisianthus, tulips and ranunculus. Everything was just gorgeous!

The Bride carried a HUGE bouquet of white hydrangea, white lisianthus, white tulips, white ranunculus, white and lavender roses, and touches of blush pink tulips. The Bridesmaids carried mixed bouquets that were mostly shades of purple with some white thrown in for contrast. The guys wore ranunculus bouts and the corsages were made of roses and ranunculus. The flower girl pomander was an adorable white carnation ball with lavender rose accents and purple ribbon handle.

For the ceremony we provided a Mary Offering, 3 Parent Offerings, 2 Altarpieces which were reused at the reception, and a monogrammed aisle runner which was also reused at the reception. The altarpieces contained purple Allium, lavender larkspur, curly willow branches, ruscus foliage, white hydrangea, purple stock, and purple roses. I love the Allium–they look like big purple orbs!

For the reception, we did 2 styles of centerpieces: one style was a trio of cylinders with submerged rose petals and floating candles on top and the other style were the show-stoppers–a 24″ tall pilsner vase with a large, full mixed arrangement of purple and white flowers on top including hydrangea, tulips, roses, and stock.
The head table was actually 3 tables: 2 round tables and a sweetheart table–all of which got scattered roses petals, ribbon-wrapped votives and vases for the Bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets. They looked very elegant.
The cake was a beautifully decorated in buttercream icing by Creative Cakes (of Tinley Park) and I added a little white urn-style pot (provided by the Mother of the Bride) on the top which I filled with white roses, minimal foliage and some pearl accents. It looked very Victorian and elegant and fit perfectly in the historic venue.

I loved working with Danielle and Ryan to make their fairytale wedding come true. They could not have been happier with how everything turned out and that makes it a fairytale for me too!

Here’s to Danielle & Ryan living happily ever after!
