A Metropolis Ballroom Wedding Bash

A Metropolis Ballroom Wedding Bash

June 28, 2009

Corey and Patrick just tied the knot at St. James Catholic Church and had their stunning reception at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights. Corey and Patrick chose a black, white and yellow color scheme with a damask motif.

The bride looked just gorgeous and carried a bouquet of white peonies, Stephanotis, roses, and callas with accents of yellow Oncidium orchids. I wrapped the handle in damask with a white organza overlay accented with pearls. The bridesmaids carried bouquets that had a mix of yellow roses and callas with Dendrobium orchid and Stephanotis details. Callas, roses and Dendrobium orchids were also used for the boutonnieres and corsages to complete the look.

The Reception at the Metropolis Ballroom was just stunning. The venue space is totally unique and has a renovated loft feel. The couple chose black and white linens and I added damask runners that I had made for the estate table and guest tables. I also lent them my black felt cut-out damask runner for the escort card table which looked fabulous!

The cocktail hour highboys were topped with square vases filled with bear grass, black stones, one yellow cymbidium orchid and one white dendrobium orchid. The escort card table featured a trio of cylinders with black rims, floating candles and submerged callas and orchids while the escort cards were lined with rose petals.

The centerpieces for the event were 12″ and 16″ cylinder vases filled with a single stem of white dendrobium orchids and a single stem of yellow oncidium orchids that were submerged and had a candle floating on top, accented with a black satin ribbon rim. They were sleek and the dual-flowers made them even more unique and interesting! For the estate table I topped my damask runner with the vases for the bouquets (one of which held the adorable tossing bouquet) and randomly scattered petals. All of the tables also featured black & white Chicago-themed table numbers mounted on yellow card stock that I made especially for Corey and Patrick.

All in all, the wedding was a total success and everything just looked fabulous!
